Skincare You Don’t Have to Second-Guess

Born from one mum’s mission to create truly skin-friendly care, Salvida delivers gentle, clinically tested formulations for sensitive, reactive skin.

born out of necessity

Salvida didn’t start as a business idea.

All 3 of my kids have had eczema and allergies since they were babies. But when my daughter Ellis started Grade 5, her flare-ups became more severe - for the first time her skin was simply unmanageable.

Steroids were off the table. I knew from my own past experience that the risks are simply not worth it.

So instead, I fell down a rabbit hole, obsessively researching what problem skin really needs. That led me to Salvida.

the development

Formulation > 2 years

There’s a reason it took us so long to formulate just three products. We didn’t take shortcuts.

Most skincare brands launch by white-labelling existing formulas - and while there’s nothing wrong with that, it wasn’t an option for us. What my family needed simply wasn’t out there. I knew because I’d tried everything.

So I tested. Refined. Started again. Using my own children as my guinea-kids we went round after round until the results were undeniable.

the testing

Testing

I was disillusioned by the skincare industry. Greenwashing everywhere. Marketing terms like “clean beauty” thrown around with no real regulation or meaning behind them.

I wanted our claims to be backed by more than promises. That meant investing in clinical and consumer testing - not because it was easy, but because it mattered.

Will our products work for everyone? No. Skin is far too unique for one magic solution. But what I can promise is proof behind every claim, so when someone chooses to trust us with their skin, they can trust the science behind it too.

the launch

Then it was go-time.

In the beginning, most orders came from familiar names - friends and family supporting the dream. But slowly, the names became strangers. And then the reviews started rolling in.

The rest is history. History we’re still writing every day as I continue on a mission to get our small Australian-made brand into the hands of more people around the world living with sensitive, compromised, and reactive skin.

Thanks so much for being here and taking the time to read our story.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of this still-unwritten journey will bring - in good time.

Lines We Won't Cross

Being in the skincare industry has been a real eye-opener. When I came up with the idea for Salvida, I was in a completely different industry - so I had to learn everything from scratch.

Because one of our products is TGA-listed (Australia’s equivalent of the FDA), I spent years reading regulatory guidelines, hiring compliance experts and staying across ever-changing rules and regulations.

Now, when I walk through chemists or beauty giants like Mecca and Sephora, I’m constantly surprised by how many brands use unregulated marketing terms as though they’re facts, make unlawful claims about cosmetic products or buy formulas off the shelf - despite having the resources (i.e. loads of cash) to formulate, well... better.

So here are two lines I simply won't cross:

no "white labelling"

Building Salvida hasn’t been easy. So trust me when I say - if the formulas I needed already existed, I would’ve happily bought them, supported them and told everyone about them. But they didn’t.

That’s why every Salvida product is formulated from scratch alongside a uber-talented team of cosmetic scientists and microbiome experts - created specifically for sensitive, reactive and compromised skin.

no "ingredient dusting"

Ingredient dusting is when a brand adds tiny amounts of a trending ingredient to a formula, not because it will actually do anything at that dosage, but so they can market the product around it.

Every ingredient in our formulations serves a purpose. But more importantly, we use ingredients in dosages backed by clinical evidence for efficacy.
