Neither will prevent stretch marks. No cream can honestly promise that. What they can do is help stretching skin feel soft and comfortable.

Barrier NPR+ and Sudocrem may both contain 15% zinc oxide, but they are formulated very differently and are designed for different skin needs.

Sudocrem includes a range of ingredients such as fragrance components, essential oils, preservatives, mineral oils and waxes and drying or sensitising agents like benzyl alcohol. These are ingredients we intentionally avoid in all Salvida formulations, as compromised or highly sensitive skin can be more reactive to them.

Barrier NPR+ is completely water-free, making it naturally more occlusive and eliminating the need for added preservatives to maintain stability over time. We also use a patented, non-nano zinc oxide that is designed to rub in clear on most skin tones, rather than leaving a thick white cast.

While Sudocrem may appear cheaper upfront, Barrier NPR+ is formulated specifically with barrier-compromised and reactive skin in mind, prioritising ingredient selection, skin comfort and long-term tolerance rather than cost alone.

Barrier NPR+ was not formulated to hydrate the skin.

No Moisture Treatment (NMT) is an approach sometimes chosen during topical steroid withdrawal (TSW) that involves avoiding moisturisers and limiting topical products.

The idea behind NMT is to reduce external interference so the skin can regulate its own moisture production over time. Some people find this approach helpful, while others find it uncomfortable or unsuitable - experiences vary widely.

Barrier NPR+ was not formulated to hydrate the skin and a 2024 independent clinical study* showed no statistically significant change in skin hydration levels after application. For this reason, some people who are following a modified or flexible NMT approach may still choose to use Barrier NPR+ for comfort or barrier support.

That said, strict NMT generally means avoiding all topical products, including Barrier NPR+. If you are following NMT in its strictest form, Barrier NPR+ would not align with that approach.
