Your Barrier Reset Spray questions, answered.
Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is a molecule your body's own white blood cells produce. For skincare, it's made by passing an electric current through purified salt water, which gives a gentle mist that looks and feels like water.
Barrier Reset Spray contains 150 ppm (parts per million) hypochlorous acid at a skin-friendly pH.
It was made for sensitive, reactive and compromised skin. There are just four ingredients, with no fragrance, essential oils or added preservatives. It has also passed the Eczema Association of Australasia's ingredient assessment.
Your skin is individual, so patch test before your first full use.
Barrier Reset Spray is made for us by an Australian specialist in stabilised hypochlorous acid. It's the only product in our range we didn't formulate from scratch. Here's why.
Hypochlorous acid is unstable. Mix it with other actives and it breaks down, turning a seriously good spray for reactive skin into, well, salt water. So there's no room to add extras or reinvent it.
We planned a hypochlorous acid spray for our first launch in June 2025. Early formulation talks with our chemist showed us how limited it is as a base, so we shelved it. Over the next 14 months, Jacqui kept recommending hypochlorous acid to customers in emails and DMs. That's what sent us looking for a reputable maker of stable hypochlorous acid, with the safety and stability testing to back it up.
A faint chlorine-like scent is normal for hypochlorous acid. It fades within seconds as the mist dries. There's no added fragrance.
Hypochlorous acid keeps the formula stable on its own. The finished product passed preservative efficacy testing with no added preservatives, which means one less ingredient for reactive skin to deal with.
As often as your skin needs. Most people mist morning and night, then again whenever skin feels hot, tight or uncomfortable. There's nothing to rinse off.
Face, neck, body and scalp. For your scalp, part your hair and mist close to the skin. Keep it away from your eyes.
The product's safety assessment covers adults and children aged 3 and over. As with any new product, patch test first. Keep the bottle out of reach of little hands and apply it for them.
Cleanse with Every Day, Everywhere and pat your skin dry. Mist on Barrier Reset Spray and let it air dry for 3 to 5 minutes.
Then follow with Barrier NPR+ if your skin is actively flaring, or Bodyguard if your skin is dry, dehydrated or flaky, or in maintenance mode.
Hypochlorous acid breaks down in light, so the opaque bottle protects it. Store it below 25°C away from direct sunlight. Use within 12 months of opening.
